PTo prevent gastronomy professionals from bearing the responsibility of the waste produced by their partner suppliers, we believe that the economy must be circular! That’s why, at Valrhona, we launched "La Consigne by Valrhona", an initiative that aims to distribute our chocolate couvertures in reusable and refundable containers to replace our usual single-use packaging. This initiative was launched in December 2020 in partnership with 7 Lyon customers. From summer 2021, the "La Consigne by Valrhona" concept will be expanded to 7 chocolate products: 4 dark chocolates, 2 milk chocolates and one white chocolate. It will be extended to 100 new businesses in the Lyon region, including pastry and chocolate makers and restaurateurs. A new phase of tests will allow us to confirm the environmental benefits and economic viability of the project. We aim to deliver 24 tons of chocolate, saving the equivalent of 1 ton of packaging. In the long run, our ambition is to extend the scheme across France, Europe and any other potential areas where there is strong demand from professionals. Together, let’s move towards zero waste !
